Do you know how I started writing? Well, silly me, of course you don’t know!
By volunteering.
A youth association in my town organized a free journalism workshop. Since I was unemployed and dreamed of working on television one day, this type of workshop seemed like a good start. During the 3 years I volunteered as a journalist for that association, I attended several journalism workshops (radio, analytical journalism) and learned everything I know today about writing.
Soon, I didn’t like the dream of being a famous presenter on television that much anymore, so I started following politics more and wanted to work as a political journalist or at least, as a freelance writer.
But that is not so important, now I have started writing my biography, haha. What is important is that volunteering, although not for a humanitarian cause, enriched me, opened my horizons, brought new people into my life and taught me a skill that I will later earn money from. That’s why today I bring you 17 reasons for volunteering:
Make New Friends: Volunteering throws you into all sorts of social circles. It’s like friend-making on steroids.
Build Personal and Professional Contacts: Networking, networking, networking! You never know who you’ll meet while lending a hand.
Boost Self-Esteem and Confidence: Nothing beats that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you’re making a difference.

Make a World of Difference: Yeah, it’s cliché, but it’s true. Every little bit counts, and you can be a part of something big.
Feel Good Vibes: Seriously, helping out just feels good. It’s like a happiness injection.

Master Communication: Whether it’s chatting with coworkers or rallying volunteers, you’ll become a pro communicator.
Family Bonding Time: Why not make volunteering a family affair? It’s quality time that gives back.
Career Exploration: Ever wondered if you’re in the right career? Volunteering lets you test-drive different paths.
Feel Needed and Appreciated: Everyone likes to feel valued. When you volunteer, that’s pretty much guaranteed.
Share Your Skills: Got skills to spare? Share the wealth! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone: Volunteering can push you to tackle challenges you never thought you could handle.
Mix Things Up: Sick of the same old routine? Volunteering adds a dash of excitement to life.

Have a Blast!: Last but not least, volunteering can be downright fun! Who said doing good had to be boring?
There you have it — 17 rock-solid reasons why volunteering is the talk of the town. You’ll get way more out of it than you put in, so why wait? Dive in, find a cause you’re passionate about, and start making a difference. Trust me, I’m talking out of experience, you’ll thank yourself later.
P.S. I know I haven’t write anything for months, but from now on, expect regular writings on the wall! Pinky promise ;)
